At HCA Virginia, we offer intensive inpatient rehabilitation to help you achieve the best quality of life possible, as quickly as possible following an injury or illness. Our caring professionals provide you with the tools and treatment to maximize independence, mobility, thinking and leisure skills.
How You Benefit
Our therapist-to-patient ratio is lower than the national average, providing you with individualized care and encouragement. Our highly qualified specialists ranging from doctors, nurses, social workers/case managers and dietitians to occupational, physical, speech and recreational therapists coordinate their efforts to assure you receive the treatments and therapies that are right for you. We collaborate with you, your family and other caregivers to set goals and establish treatment plans.
Our inpatient rehabilitation facilities are located at two of our full-service hospitals. This means that should you need medical treatment while in the rehab unit, you will receive the required medical treatment without having to transfer from one facility to another. Your physician can continue to follow you, and you can benefit from the full range of support services available within one hospital.
Eligibility and Admission
Anyone who has functional limitations due to illness or injury may qualify for inpatient rehabilitation services. For patients in HCA Virginia hospitals, a rehab physician and/or a clinical liaison will meet with the patient and family to discuss eligibility for the program and coordinate admission. Timing of admission depends on the availability of beds and the patient's medical readiness to begin intensive therapy. All patients must be capable of participating in a minimum of three hours of therapy a day, five days a week.
We're an approved provider for many insurance plans, including managed care and private networks. Many insurance policies require pre-certification prior to admission. Our admissions coordinator will assist you with this process and help you receive the maximum benefit from all available financial resources.
We treat adults (age 18 or older) with a range of conditions, including:
- Stroke
- Post-operative cardiac conditions
- Cancer
- Orthopedic injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Amputations
- Brain injury
- Neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's
- Other medical conditions
