Occupational therapy (OT) helps people develop or recover skills for daily living and return to ordinary activities at home and at work. Our therapists work with individuals affected by accidents, injuries and physical, mental, neurologic or developmental conditions.

Occupational Therapy Treatments and Services

At HCA Virginia, we offer one-on-one services from licensed occupational therapists that evaluate your specific needs and create a customized program of therapies, treatments and technologies to help you develop skills for independent living.

Our experts provide help with:

  • Orthopedic rehabilitation
  • Stroke and neurological rehabilitation
  • Upper extremity strengthening
  • Hand, arm and shoulder therapy
  • Gross and fine motor control
  • Cognitive retraining
  • Visual-perceptual training
  • Sensory integration
  • Energy conservation

Treatment options include SaeboFlex, a breakthrough device that helps stroke patients regain hand function, even up to 20 years after the stroke occurred.

Adaptive Equipment

Our therapists can recommend adaptive equipment, such as wheelchair selection and seating, and assistive technology, such as alternative communication devices. We train patients, family members and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment.

Industrial Rehabilitation

We offer evaluation of work environments and return-to-work assessments and conditioning.
