Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Many patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can become weak and short of breath. Our pulmonary rehabilitation team helps patients strengthen their respiratory muscles through exercise training. Pulmonary rehabilitation can also include education, smoking cessation programs, nutritional counseling and oxygen therapy.
Advanced Asthma Treatment
HCA Virginia was first in the region to offer bronchial thermoplasty treatment for individuals with severe asthma. A recent treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, bronchial thermoplasty is an outpatient procedure which delivers precisely-controlled thermal energy to the airways.
Pulmonary Function Testing Labs
Our pulmonary function testing labs perform diagnostic tests to measure lung capacity and gas flow rates and to determine how gases are exchanged in the lungs. HCA Virginia's labs also test lung mechanics to determine how much strength an individual's respiratory muscles can generate. The information provided by these tests enables us to develop the best treatment plan for your specific needs.
