Our Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) at Chippenham Hospital enable us to give critically ill children, or children requiring close observation, the specialized care they require. A team of highly skilled doctors, called pediatric intensivists, supervises the care of PICU patients. They understand the importance of keeping families informed and make it a priority to communicate about each child's progress and treatment. They also update your pediatrician on your child's care.

If your child needs a consultation with another specialist, such as a cardiologist, the pediatric team will arrange the consultation and coordinate care. When needed, we can offer the services of Pediatric Critical Care Transport.

Careful Monitoring and Advanced Treatment

Your nurse will review visiting hours and guidelines when you arrive on the unit. Family visitation is strongly encouraged so that your child can feel at ease and focus on recovery. However visitation by others may be limited based on the unit your child is on or the care he or she is receiving. Our first priority is always a safe and quick recovery for your child.
