Affirming Life with Dignity
In 2008, HCA Virginia, in partnership with Hospice of Virginia, founded the first inpatient hospice center of its kind in Central Virginia at Retreat Doctors' Hospital. Since then, we've provided compassionate, professional end-of-life care to families throughout our community.
All HCA Virginia hospitals partner with a broad range of hospice providers across the region to provide compassionate end-of-life care. Hospice services are available at all local HCA facilities by the patient's choice of hospice provider and upon patient evaluation.
For each individual and family we serve, we strive to provide comfort, peace and dignity. Our team of caring, experienced hospice professionals works closely with physicians and nurses at each of our hospitals to keep individuals as free from pain and other symptoms as possible, while providing ongoing support for patients and loved ones. The caregiving team includes:
- Your primary care physician
- Hospice nurses
- Palliative care specialists
- Social workers
- Chaplains
- Bereavement counselors
- Specially trained volunteers
Families will find that we've made every effort to make our facilities comfortable and homelike. We've also equipped the hospice center with advanced technology to allow for the best end-of-life care.
HCA Virginia's hospice program accepts private insurance, as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
